Vira Vasyuta

Vira Vasyuta is a Doctor of Medicine, Head of the Scientific and Organizational Department, Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, an ophthalmologist.

In 2006, Vira defended her Ph.D. thesis: Possibilities of Restoring the Functional and Morphological State of the Visual Analyzer When Affected by Trofin In Methanol Intoxication. In 2016, defended her doctoral thesis: Medical and Social Justification of Medical Care Provision to Optic Atrophy Patients.

V. Vasyuta authored 120+ research papers, co-authored 3 monographs; highest category doctor. Chairman of the Ukrainian Neuro-Ophthalmological Association, member of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmological Society and European Neuro-Ophthalmological Society. Organizer, moderator, and speaker at scientific and educational interdisciplinary neuro-ophthalmology webinars.

Main fields of scientific research and practical activity: study of early neuro-ophthalmic symptoms of compressive optic neuropathy in brain tumors; treatment of optic nerve atrophy of various etiologies, vascular and inflammatory diseases of the optic nerve; assessment of oculomotor and pupillary disorders; differential diagnosis of congested discs of the optic nerves (in brain tumors, intracranial hypertension, hydrocephalus) and retrobulbar and periorbital pain syndromes.
